Lani Faulkner to Run for Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors
This Sunday, June 11th, Equity Transit founder Lani Faulkner will launch her campaign for First District Supervisor at the Lower DeLaveaga Park, George Washington Picnic Area.
The launch event runs from 2-4 pm.
Faulkner is a long-time resident of Live Oak who is committed to community involvement. Founder of Equity Transit, she also serves on the Executive Committee of the Santa Cruz Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Community Traffic Safety Coalition, and the local chapter of the NAACP. At the Kirby School, Faulkner coached mountain biking for seven years. Faulkner is a community activist who has spent hundreds of hours volunteering on critical projects in the community.
“I’m running for supervisor because the First District deserves a representative who is professional, competent, and compassionate,” says Faulkner.
Faulkner brings a wealth of professional experience to her campaign. After earning two degrees at the University of California, Davis, she taught courses in physiology and biotechnology at UC Davis and other colleges, then managed clinical trials for biotechnology companies for nearly 15 years, facilitating collaborations between government agencies and the private sector.
Faulkner played a central role in the successful No on D campaign last year, which resulted in a landslide rejection of the controversial measure that would have derailed public transit in Santa Cruz County forever. Everywhere Faulkner has worked, she’s been a known coalition builder. She is committed to listening, serving as an authentic and transparent leader, and working to ensure the First District thrives.
